Mr Henry Darrah
The death has occured in a nursing home in London of Mr Henry Zouch Darrah, C.S.I., a Divisional Commissioner of the United Provinces.
Mr Darrah, who completed his education at Trinity College, Dublin, went out to Upper India in 1877. His Service was principally in the United Provinces, but he was for a time director of land records and agriculture in Assam and was also on special duty in the Central Provinces and Burma.
He went back to Upper India as director of land records and agriculture, and he wrote several works on agriculture and allied industries, as well as a general survey entitled "Eleven Years' Work of a Land Records Department."
He was well known as a sportsman, having written on his shikari experiences in Kashmir and having hunted the lion in Somaliland.
He was created a Companion of the Star of India in 1907.
